Belfast International Invitational Event

ben  bim 14 2On Wednesday ANI held an invitatational night of international athletics at MPT on the lines of the previous year’s re-opening of the track. The meeting offered athletes competing at the Commonwealth Games the opportunity to get one final competitive run out before a home crowd. From a local perspective, Ben Reynolds impressed by winning the 110m hurdles in 13.81 sec in style into a headwind 11. Brother Tom Reynolds was 4th behind two Birchfield guests in 15.28  Alan Kennedy was also in good form in the long jump with 7.07m into a -3.7 headwind.

Many other North Down athletes competed, both in the main events, as pacemakers and in the associated junior events. Pick of the juniors was Aaron Sexton who won the U15 100m in 11.67 sec and Michael Gaffney who threw 50.08m in the U18 javelin.
