On Saturday it was a clean sweep of pb”s for Ben Reynolds at the EIS in Sheffield in the England Athletics U20 Indoor Heptathlon Championship. Ben closed the first day in 6th position with 2650 points after posting 7.58 secs for 60m, 6.47m for long jump, 12.11m for 6Kg shot and 4.15m for pole vault. On Sunday it got better. He ran 8.55 sec for the 60m hurdles and then blew the field away in the high jump, his pb of 1.98m way way ahead of the competition. He ran 2 min 56.87 sec in the 1000m and finished in 2nd place with 4978 points. The result puts him in an excellent position to make one of the indoor international teams later in the indoor season.
In the Senior Heptathlon , Ben”s brother Tom on the first day did 7.31 secs for 60m, 1.81m for high jump, 6.36m for long jump nd 12.80m for shot. He did not complete the second day however, just posting 8.62 sec for 60 hurdles and 3.85 for pole vault, though he was obviously in an ideal position to mentor Ben.
