Well done to Ben Reynolds and Peter Glass in particular and to the other 12 athletes who have been selected in a strong-looking athletic team for the Commonwealth Games in Glasgow in August. The squad of 14 athletes is the largest for many years and reflects the high level of talent in the Province. Ben is selected for his 110m hurdles speciality in which he is the Northern Ireland record holder. He is also likely to compete in the 4 x 100m relay where Peter is also a squad member. Peter will compete in the decathlon in which holds the Northern Ireland native record. He follows the great tradition of North Down AC in the decathlon at the Commonwealth Games. Brendan McConville, Tom Reynolds and now Peter will have competed in the decathlon at the last three Commonwealth Games and the great Mike Bull may be better known as a pole vaulter but he also holds a Commonwealth decathlon gold metal.
