Brendan McConville won the AAI Indoor Pole Vault title at the Odyssey Centre with a clearance of 4.60m. Coming in the midst of a heavy strength training period, the height was way higher than expected at this time of year and bodes well for the outdoor season.
Overall results reflected a general lack of Indoor preparation, athletes treating the weekend as a general check. Paul Curran was 4th in Triple Jump with 13.94 after 5 no jumps. Tom Reynolds was 7th in 60mH in 8.65, 7th in shot with 11.58, 9th in long jump with 6.35. Also in shot Jeremy Harper and Richard Lockhart were 5th with 12.44 and 9th with 10.21. David Robb jumped 1.85m while old boy Darragh Murphy cleared 2.00m. Michael Dyer ran 2.01.06 for 800m and John Saulters 52.07 for 400m.
At 60m and 200m, Amy Foster ran 8.12 and 27.18 and Erin Mullan ran 8.19 and 27.78. Both girls were rather impressive, mixing it up with the seniors for the first time at a major event
