There were a couple of outstanding performances on Saturday from members of the endurance squad. Dennis Scott had an excellent run in Budoran in the Cara 10 mile race, finishing 13th out of 559 in 59:02 min. In Waterford in the the Irish Universities Cross Country Championships, Jessica Craig (UU) was 7th in 20:12 min, the race being won by Ciara Mageean, now at DCU. Robin Brown had a late call-up for the Northern Ireland team in the Inter Counties XC in Birmingham but it proved in vain as has entry had not been processed in time and he was not allowed to run.
There were were no pbs in the Victoria Park ParkRun but there were 7 club runners and Valerie McDonough and Abbey Taylor were 1st and 3rd in the ladies race. North Down results were Tony Wall 19:53 min: Steve Wise 20:04: Valerie McDonough 21:32: Abbey Taylor 21:53: Alison Wise 25:35: Ken Hawtin 26:32 and Pat O’Driscoll 27:07.
In the Addiction 10K in Ormeau Park on Sunday Marie Devine and new member Margaret Furst were respectively 1st F45 and 1st F50 in 50:12 (pb) and 56:23 min.
Finally on Sunday in the Bath Half Marathon, Francis Marsh ran a useful 73:55 min for 58th place and 2nd M45.
