BUSA Indoor Championships

John Saulters (Queens) was the most successful North Down athlete in Sheffield at the weekend in the British Universities Indoor Championships. John reached the semi finals of both 200m and 400m. He ran 23.15 in his heat and 23.31 in the semi at 200m while at 400m he ran 51.36 in the heat and 51.87 in the semi. On Sunday he will do the 200m for “Belfast” in the Inter Cities as will Amy Foster for the Womens’ Team.

Less successful were Tom Reynolds (Brunel) and Philip Browne (Bath). Tom just missed qualifying in the 60m Hurdles with 8.59 and missed the cut-off at Triple Jump with 12.35m for 16th overall. Phlip missed the cut-off at Long Jump with 5.89m for 25th overall and also no-heighted at High Jump.

Tom incidentally was 4th back in January at the Sheffield Open Combined Events Indoor Heptathlon with 60m 7.37, LJ 6.31m, Shot 11.81m, HJ 1.74m, 60m H 8.85, PV 3.60m, 1000m 2.37.86
