[Not a valid template]Running in tandem, Francis Marsh and Simon Seaton were overall winners of the Castlewellan Christmas Cracker on Monday. Conditions were very tough over a 10 mile multi-terrain course, changed each year by promoters Newcastle AC to keep it fresh and interesting. All “paired up” runners experienced a multitude of running surfaces from snow, ice to thick mud and bog, and soldiered on over obstacles such as walls, hedges, barbed wire and rocks to be rewarded with a bowl of soup at the Castlewellan GAA club after the race. Teams ran in pairs throughout with the time of the second finisher counting and there was a good North Down representation amongst the excellent turnout.
