After several continuous rainy days, conditions were expected to be bad over the Crawfordsburn Trail for the Hawtin Shield Christmas Handicap. So they were and things were not helped by the absence of any cover. Neverless, around thirty hardy souls turned up and tackled the full unadjusted course. Already the holder of the Smith Shield Spring Handicap, Charlie McNutt Senior made it a double by romping away with the race with Dennis Scott 2nd and young Charlie Quinn 3rd. Jessica Craig and Melissa Eccles were the pick of the girls.
We should also mention that Sarah Benton, Andrew Muir, Steve Wise and probably others warmed up beforehand by doing the Victoria Park parkrun. As usual, a couple of runners wandered off course.
We have to apologise and admit that we lack a usable set of results but would like to congratulate all the runners and thank those who set and marshalled the course and those who recorded the results. And of course we wish a Merry Christmas and a successful New Year to all members and readers.
The attached represent a collective attempt to reconstruct the results and may not meet universval agreement
