Some 46 members attended the Annual Club Dinner at Carnalea Golf Club on Monday evening. Whilst the majority of the diners were from the ranks of the Monday evening "all ages, mixed abilities, both sexes" group, there was also a more senior contingent whose service to the Club was acknowledged in the form of their own table in the middle of proceedings. Organiser, Brian Smith, welcomed everyone to Carnalea and stated how pleased he was with the 2008 attendance which, over the years, had grown considerably. This indicated a growing spirit and increased participation within the Club.
He also reminded those present about the Hawtin Shield Trail Race scheduled to take place this Saturday when the finery of Monday evening would be replaced by the trainers, tracksters, hats & gloves which are more fitting attire for a lap of Crawfordsburn Park. All members are reminded to bring a small gift and are requested to arrive before 10.30 a.m. in order that the handicap can be properly and fairly structured.
