The club won two more trophies over the weekend, both of them as inaugural winners, as the domestic cross country seaeon ended on Saturday at Stormont with the NI Civil Service Open Championships. North Down Ladies team endied the season as they started it – winning the team title. Roberta Dornan was 3rd in 21:09 min, Julie Balmer 4th in 21:28, Debbie Matchett 7th in 22:10 and Stephanie Hambling 10th in 22:41 over 2 laps. The men ran over 3 laps with Nick Irvine 49th in 35:40 min, Brian Smith 52nd in 36:18, Gary Alcock 56th in 37:05 and Norman Lellyett 60th in 38:04. This was the first year that team awards had been made with the inaugural clear winners being North Down for the women and Annadale Striders for the men. In the junior events Nathaniel Smyth was 3rd U17 boy, Charlie Quinn 3rd U15 boy and Curtis Mayes 3rd U13 boy. That was the second trophy the club won as the boys unexpectaby as the mechanism hadn’t been clear, won the boys Junior team trophy with the best overall performance over the three races.
