On Saturday our neighbours, Ballydrain Harriers, hosted the latest race in the Novosco 10K series. On a relatively flat, fast course it felt more like the Seeley in November/December with the weather rather than the middle of British Summer time.
North Down had a healthy turnout of 28 athletes in the 500 strong field. Most notable result of the day was Katie Moore who continues her good form with a pb time of 38:42 which secured 2nd place female and 34th place overall. Katie was marginally behind Darren Hamilton who, now in marathon training mode in good time for Dublin, finished in 38:23 and 33rd position.
The leading male runner was Francis Marsh who won a race within the chasing pack to finish 4th, first Over 50 and record 34:12. He was followed in by our youngest entrant Jamie McMeechan who had a pb of 36:00 positioning him 15th. Jodi Smith made a good effort of finishing 4th female and recording 39:42 despite not feeling her best and David McMeechan recorded 41:39 finishing in 73rd.
Frankie Rea 91st in 42:48 and Keith Gilmore 99th with 43:13 made it inside the top 100 and then Andrew Muir came in on 43:41 with 111 place. John Ferguson was next in on 44:09 with Helen Byers and Davie Seaton finishing together on 45:54 and 45:55, Davie winning the Over 65 prize in the process. Roy Sittlington had a season best 47:02 and Melanie Patton returned a very credible 47:33 while Ivan Mellon improved on his Lisburn time with 48:14 and his wife, Alex also advanced on her previous 10k with 55:45.
Lisa McMeechan completed the top 200 finishers in a time of 49:42, Cliff McCausland 51:59, Valerie Blayney 53:42, Gavin McDonnell 53:45 and Paula Simpson 54:31 were next in.
Tracey Hodgson 55:54, Glenn Frazer 57:34, Kevin Waugh 58:35, Patricia Nickell 1:00:08, Pat O’Driscoll 1:01:00, Kirsty Spencer 1:03:30 and Michael Spencer 1:04:18 completed the NDAC finishers.
