Comber Cup

[Not a valid template]North Down athletes competed across the various categories in the Comber Cup cross country meeting on Saturday that incorporated the NI Vets trial for the British & Irish International. Roberta Dornan made her cross-country debut to take 3rd (21:02) in the women’s 5k race with Stephanie Hambling 14th (23:13), Hilary Kernaghan 15th (23:30) and Lynne Kerr 16th (23:42) packing closely – with Fred Murdoch not far behind in 23:46 to easily win the M65 race. 

[Not a valid template]Glen Willis and Harry Speers were the leading North Down runners in the U16 boys 3.2k, placing 3rd (13.29 ) & 4th (13:40) respectively – while Brian Barron won the U18 boys 5K (in 18:31) ably backed up by Jordan Stokes in 3rd (19:36) and Chris Denny in 4th (20:08). Leading club athlete in the 8K M35+ race was Mark Weir 30th in 33:10 (after something like a 10 year break!) with Gerry O”Boyle next in 37th (33:49) followed by Tony Wall in 42nd (34:24)
