10 North Down AC runners raced the Connswater 5 Mile Challenge on Friday 11th August. Starting and finishing in front of the sculpture of Aslan in CS Lewis Square, the athletes ran along the Connswater Greenway and around Victoria Park before making their way back towards Hollywood Arches. Fiona McQuillan was first of the club runners to finish, claiming 1st female spot in the process, in 30:49. Clair Quigley was the next NDAC runner back in 33:05 and 2nd female. Third North Down finisher was Sarah Gibson in 33:54 who took the prize for 1st W50. Helen Byers 36:40, was followed by another prize winner, Paula Simpson 38:40 and 1st W55. John Ferguson was next to finish in 39:53 closely followed by Heather Beattie 40:06, Judith Gillespie 45:52, Helen Beattie 49:37 and Pat O’Driscoll, who like several others was running his first race of the weekend, completed NDAC involvement in 53:31.
