Another contingent of road runners headed for Cookstown on Sunday where the Half Marathon was the 6th and penultimate in the Champion Chip Series. Gerry Coy led them in in 31st overall in 88: 39 min from Dougie Grant with Roberta Dornan and Stephanie Hambling 2nd and 4th female in 90:47 and 93:41 min respectively. Not only were they both category winners, they more or less guaranteed their positions as category winners in the series, even though the Derry race is still to take place. Jill Aicken, Sarah Benton and Pat O’Driscoll had pbs over the distance.
It may have been her slowest time of the year but given her recent injury problems, a bee sting at 12½ miles and the general difficulty of the course, Roberta was delighted with her result and her overall series result.
