The club-promoted open trail race over the Crawfordsburn Trail was a real footwear tester as heavy rain, thunder and lightning just prior to the start left the grassy sections very slippy. Despite the conditions there were a hundred starters including a good club turnout. Simon Seaton made it one for the home team winning in 17:41 min from Martin Rea (North Belfast) in 17:50 and Chris Madden (City of Lisburn) in 18:03. Catriona McCorkell (Lagan Valley) won a strong womens race in 20:35 from NDAC”s Roberta Dornan in 21:21 and Heather McClarnon (Lisburn) in 21:31 with Julie Balmer 4th in 21:36. Jill Dowie and Roma McConville were category winners at F35 and F45 respectively. Noteworthy North Down runners included course specialist Brian Barron in 6th overall in 18:33, John Saulters, Gerry Coy and youngsters Glen Willis and Harry Speers.
