North Belfast had a clean sweep of Mens Open, Veteran and Under 16 races while Lagan Valley did the same with Open Women and Under 16 Girls. East Down had a clear run in the Under 14 races. Jordan Neil and Paul Pollock shared the fastest single lap time and Damien Thillaye du Boullay was fastest over two laps.
Jordan gave North Down the perfect start in the Mens race pinching the lead from Richard Girvan at the end. James Budde extended the lead on the first of his two laps but at the end it was North Belfast from Abbey from North Down. Jamie Stewart took over, finishing fourth as Willowfield moved into third. The first three were unchanged over the last leg as Paul Curran finished for North Down. Thomas Simmons gave the B team a good start, Thomas Simpson with no Junior team ran second while James and Jamie finished off with repeat runs.
North Down had another good race in the Veterans event with George Bell ahead of Paul Murphy of North Belfast after the first. Tony Wall maintained the lead for most of the second but was taken at the end by Jim Newberry. Peter Smith kept the lead for North Belfast with John Quiery holding second. Eddie Burns gave the B team a good start along with Pat McMullan and Hugh Young. Don’t ask why North Down B ran four in a three man relay. You have to admit it’s better than running three in a four man event.
Jessica Craig moved up to complete the Senior Womens team along with Nicola Simpson and Kerry Iveston. Clare Scott, Lauren’s sister. filled the Under 16 gap by moving up from Under 14.
