Ben Reynolds took part at the weekend in a low-key decathlon held alongside the South West Regional Schools Combined Events Championships in a doomed attempt to show fitness for an up-coming GB Combined Events Junior International. Ben damaged his shoulder during the winter in a skiing accident which affected his ability to vault and since has avoided pole vault and decathlon this year. A twinge at the vault was enough to cause worry over the shoulder and Ben withdrew as a precaution before the javelin. He had however demonstrated consistency in his current key events with a 2.05m high jump and a hand-timed 14.7 sec 110m hurdles. His marks were 100m 11.6 sec, long jump 6.73m, shot 12m.79, high jump 2.05m, 400m 63.5 sec, 110m hurdles 14.7 sec, discus 36.22m and pole vault 3.70m.
