With legs well accustomed to trail running after the #496challenge Donald enjoyed 3 shorter runs during the first 3 days of February before launching back into distance running at the Rabbit Run trail marathon organised by We Run Wild NI at Woodburn reservoirs in the hills above Carrickfergus. Treacherous approach roads during last month’s snow forced a postponement from the original date marking the start of the Chinese year of the rabbit, but perfect marathon running conditions prevailed on Saturday for the scenic but deceptively hilly course taking in the forest trails around all 3 reservoirs and North Carn Forest. Half marathon runners ran one lap while marathon runners got to do it all over again! According to some runners with greater imagination than others the course map resembled the outline of a rabbit; I’ll add a photo so you can decide for yourselves! Donald finished in 11th place in 4:26:01.
