Dublin Open

(report by Francis Marsh)

10 North Down athletes headed down to Dublin on Saturday for the last Dublin open meet of the season. Tom Reynolds came 2nd (in15.70) in the hastily arranged 110m hurdles before clocking 23.31 for 200m, with brother Luke running marginally quicker in 23.30. In the 800m, Michael Dyer was unlucky not to get into the fastest and paced ‘A’ race so had to settle for an un-paced 800 through the bell in 57s, placing 2nd in 1:55.55. Jordan Stokes recovered well from a week long stomach bug to record 1:58.90 in the 3rd ‘A’ standard race. Mark Weir ran 2:07.67, Francis Marsh 2:10.06 & Mathew McMullan 2:17.25 in the remaining programme of 8 mens races. The womens ‘A’ race went out lightning fast and was a tough last 100m for Lauren Scott and Jessica Craig (coach hand timed at around 2:15/16 & 2:21), but the official results order appear in error with some athletes down 1 position/time – possibly affected by 2 fallers. In the womens ‘B’ race, Rachel Gibson showed improving fitness with a 2:26.2 SB.
