The Under 16 boys were the most succesful of the squads in Jordanstown for the Even Age Cross Country Championships which attracted huge fields. Brian Barron was 7th overall in the 3000m race in 9:58 min while Matthew McMullan also had a good run for 26th in 10:32 min. The team was incomplete due to illness but Brian qualified for the All Ireland Championships in Newbridge, Kildare while Matthew should also have qualified as 4th scoring member of Down who were 2nd County. Leigh McWha and Clare Scott were 48th and 51st of the Under 16 girls and Niall Robinson and Thomas Simpson were 16th and 35th of the Under 18 Boys. In the Bobby Rea Memorial Senior Races Brian Smith. Fred Murdock and Ken Hawtin were 2nd, 3rd and 4th in the Over 60 race.
