Firmus Energy Super 6 14th April

On Thursday night Mary Peters track hosted the first of the Firmus Energy sponsored races focussed on young athletes.  North Down youngsters participated over a variety of disciplines with many achieving podium places.

Holly Brannigan was successful in winning the U17 300M  and backed it up with a 2nd place finish in the 100M.  Amelia Tyler also succeeded in the U13 1500M with Ellie Gordon finishing 3rd and Clare Robinson won the Open ladies long jump and finished 2nd in the 100M.  Tilly McWhinney won the Minis’ Shot throwing a pb 6.69 and Finn Moraghan finished 2nd in the Mini’s 80M providing a great introduction to athletics alongside Niamh Fenlon finishing 2nd in the 1000M event.

Zac Moraghan landed 2nd place in the U15 Javelin throwing 27:51 and Ollie Wakefield managed a 3rd place finish in the open Long Jump.

Also competing  for North Down on the evening were Amelia Hazle, who took part in the Minis Shot and 1000M finishing 4th and 6th, with Hannah Lawden finishing 8th in the Shot.

Rose McGreevy ran well to finish 5th in the  U13 1500M race while Katie Kimber also finished 5th in the U13 100M race.  Hollie Massey competed in the 1500m, 100M and Long Jump displaying great versatility which will benefit her overall performance.

Megan Briggs completed the U15 girls 1500M in 5:16:69 in a very competitive race with Charlie Lawden, Long Jump, and Jennifer Collins 100M also taking part. Isaac Hart and Luke Adair ran well in the U17 100M race which is a good start to the season.
