Firmus Energy Super 6 Series Rnd 2 – IMC Greystones AC

The second series of Super 6 events took place at Mary Peter’s on Thursday 28th April in weather more akin to January than spring time.

Niamh Fenlon won the Mini girls 150m with Poppy Dann claiming 3rd position, Stephanie Bell 7th, Tilly McWhinney 10th and Hannah Lawden 18th. Niamh and Poppy also featured in the Long Jump finishing 2nd and 5th behind the winner, Lauren Madine who jumped 3:50 winning by 9 cms. Lisa Wilson also jumped her way to 8th position and Hannah Lawden 9th.

The only North Down athletes in the girls U13 events were our 800M runners. Amelia Tyler won the race and Tara McDonough finished a close 4th, while in the boys 800M Adam Skelly managed 5th and Charlie Lawden 5th in the High Jump.

In 4 girls U15 events North Down had 3 winners out of the 3 events entered. Rachel McCann won the 200M, Megan Briggs the 800M and Kate McCann the Shot. Eve Dann also made her presence felt in the 200M, 18th and the Shot 12th.

The boys made a reappearance in the U17 events with Luke Adair taking 3rd in the 200M (25:13) and Stefan Yathindran 4th in the 800M (2:11:56).

Irish Milers’ event at Greystones AC consisted of top quality athletes, an example of the quality was the mens 5K entry set at 15:40 with only the first 25 entries guaranteed a race.  With such quality athletes on board Rachel Gibson took part in the women’s 800M race finishing 5th, recording 2:14:33.

Mary Peter’s track hosts the next IMC meet on Saturday 7th May.
