At the North Down Sports Advisory Council dinner on Friday night, Geoffrey Weir was awarded the Bruce Mulligan Award for services to sport, presented by Bruce’s wife June. Martin Mahood received an award of merit for his performances in the World Special Olympic Games in Athens, where he won 3 silver medals in Shot, 800m and 4 x 100m relay. Stephen Yetman ND Special Olympics club and Coleraine Riding for the Disabled won Sports Person of the Year for his performances in Equestrian events at the world games in Athens where he won gold, silver and bronze medals for 3 separate events
