The Golden Four series ended at Antrim with the postponed Round 3 leaving North Down easy winners in the Mens League. Jason Blanc won the 100m and long jump, Philip Browne jumped and threw and the Middle distance squad did their stuff and then played around at javelin and discus. Nicola Simpson did enough at 800m and 400m to bring the womens team from nowhere to the vital 4th spot which merited prize money. Having won this competition in the previous two years, the girls had problems turning out this season but they did win their main target, the Team Trophy, for the first time and won it well.
Also at the weekend David Seaton was 3rd in the vets 10000m Championship to Alan McCullough and Robert Wilson. The race was incorporated into the NIAF Championship where McCullough was the overall winner followed by Matthew Wilson and Anthony Mooney.
