1500m and shot were the highlights of a poorly-attended Golden Four meeting at Bangor Sportsplex. Michael Dyer held off John Devlin to win the 1500m in 4.04.8 while James Budde had a good pb in 3rd with Mark Kirk 4th. Dermott Kerr won the 3000m for Armagh. In the shot, discus winner Jeremy Harper gets ever closer to Mike Bull‘s club senior record and putted 12.92m. The javelin was exciting with several leader changes and Peter Glass beat Brendan McConville by 1 cm.
In the girls’ events, Amy Foster had a good win at 100m but had no opposition at 200m as had Caroline Hussey at 400m and Kerry Iveston at 3000m. The 1500m was more competitive and Vicky Clegg had a good 3rd. Caroline Oakes took all the three throws.
After a highly intense period of competition North Down had lots of missing athletes but won both mens’ and womens’ events with Mid Ulster 2nd men and Lagan Valley 2nd women.
