North Down men had little trouble in winning the mens section of the first Golden Four at Antrim Forum on Saturday. They scored 59 points including the maximum available in the three throws (shot, discus, javelin) and had a win at high jump and useful points in long jump and middle distance.
Ben Worthington has emerged as a main line thrower with senior weights having beefed up during the Rugby season. Ben won shot and discus, backed up by Richard Lockhart and Paul Curran while Peter Glass won javelin and high jump.
Conditions for the track races were dire with heavy, blustery winds and scattered showers and it was case of just getting on with it. James Budde, Jordan Neill and Kerry Iveston all had much better middle distance runs than the times imply and James actually had a pb at 3000m. Actually it was quite funny to hear the Bangor Sportsplex critics with some weather to really whinge about.
Kerry unfortunately was the only girl to turn out leaving some work to be done
