The penultimate race in this year’s series was the Meels – Meelmore and then Meelbeg. Every H&D race has a degree of elevation and difficulty but the introduction to Thursday evening’s race was bordering on a near vertical climb.
Young Ben Acheson replaced the track steeplechase for the hills this week and did himself proud as he finished in 82nd place. Hill and Dale regular Cara Jeffrey came home in 127thand Peter McQuillan, appetized by the 7km distance of this race after his near 169km race two weeks ago, completed in 129th.
One more race this year, Drinnahilly, which is next FRIDAY. There are route markings for this course so no navigation is required, just legs and a head for heights.
