The 6th race on Newcastle AC’s annual Hill & Dale series took place on Thursday 24th May. 7 of North Down’s mountain runners were among the 207 athletes assembled at the start line at Meelmore Lodge before racing to the top of Luke’s Mountain (after an ascent to the higher peak of Slievenaglogh!) Although only @7.2k in distance the race included over 440m of ascent. First of the North Down finishers was Clair Quigley in 54:25, taking 2nd place in the FV40 age group. Matt Ormesher was the second NDAC runner home in 1:03:22 ahead of Donald Smith, 1:05:37 and Claire Scott, 1:08:04. John Adgey won the MV75 age category finishing in 1:09:44. Kim McCourt 1:11:27 and Tracy McKittrick 1:21:23 rounded off another fine evening in the mountains.
