Newcastle AC’s Hill and Dale races continued on Thursday 8th June with perhaps one of the toughest races in the series, an anticlockwise loop of @ 7km and nearly 600m of elevation from Spelga taking in tough climbs and descents of Slieve Muck, Doan, Slieve Loughshannagh and Ott Mountain. The summer evening heat further tested the athletes, but a hardy quartet of North Down AC’s mountain runners were more than equal for the task. Clair Quigley was once again the first North Down AC finisher in 1:02:09, taking second place in the FV40 category. Kim McCourt ran an impressive 1:22:51 followed shortly afterwards by John Adgey who took first honours in his MV75 age group. Trevor Patterson completed the club’s finishers in 1:25:56.
