The British and Irish Masters Cross Country International was at Santry Park, Dublin on Saturday with the best Northern Ireland results 2nd for Alan McCullough in the M40 10K in 30.20 and 1st for Karen Marshall at 5K F50 in 21.55. This was Karen’s 8th successive category win at these Championships. Of the North Down members David Seaton was 1st Northern Ireland M60, 8th in the category in 37.39. Norman Lellyett ran in the M55′s because of the greater Northern Ireland depth in the M60′s and was 20th in 39.20. He was 4th Northern Ireland runner and would have been 15th at M60. Hugh Young in 44.22 was 2nd Northern Ireland and 16th M65, no Billy Brannigan unfortunately. Hilary Kernaghan in the 5K womens race was 20th F40 in 25.30, 4th Northern Ireland.

In addition to the two individual medallists there was a team bronze for Northern Ireland at M50 from Matt Shields, Mario Donnelly, Jim Newberry and James Gillespie. The M55 team missed out despite strong runs from Terry Eakin and Desi McHenry.
