The North Down junior athletes in Tullamore at the first weekend of the ANI Championships didn’t collect many medals though performances were good and several near misses might have fared better on another day. Niall McGrattan had a bronze in the U16 javelin with 43.89m (600g). Beth Wilson came close at U17 discus but her 33.76m (1Kg) brought 4th. Alex Catherwood was closer still but again 4th at U16 high jump, losing out in a 3 way tie for 2nd on 1.55m. Andrew Kennedy at U15 shot putted 10.68m, Rebekah Rutherwood at U15 high jump posted 1.40m and Emma Stockton at U16 javelin (500g) threw 17.05m.
Competing under the Regent House banner, Callum Graham was 2nd at U18 triple jump with 12.97m and 4th at 110m hurdles in 15.57 sec. Clare Robinson was 4th at U17 100m hurdles in 15.56 sec and long jumped 4.65m.
