Just two club athletes made the trip to Tullamore on Saturday 1st July to compete in the Irish Life Health U23 & Junior Championships.
In her final year as a junior athlete, Saskia Greer competed at both 100m & 200m finishing 6th in her 100m heat in 13.38s & 6th in her 200m heat in 28.18s. In contrast, Aaron Sexton was competing in his first Irish Junior championships and opted to concentrate on his preferred 200m where, despite being one of the youngest competitors, he cruised to victory in his heat. In the final he was pushed hard by 400m specialist Chris O’Donnell, but was strong enough to hold off the North Sligo man to take the Junior title in 21.44s just a hundredth outside his PB.
