Athletes from Northern Ireland secure medals at prestigious Championships:
On Saturday, the Aviva ‘All Ireland’ School’s Track & Field Championships took place Tullamore. There were excellent results for North Down Junior Boys Aaron Sexton and Oscar Yandall. Aaron collected 2 medals, winning the 200m in 23.29secs and 2nd in the 100m in 11.48. Oscar won the javelin with a healthy 46.41m. Glenlola won the Intermediate 4 x 100m relay in 49.76 sec, following up their 3rd in the Junior event. Rebekah Rutherford was 3rd in the Intermediate high jump with 1.60m. At Senior level, Sarah Connolly was 2nd in the 100m hurdles, running 15.08 sec into a 1.3m headwind.. Andrew Mellon was 2nd at 400m in 47.93 and 4th at 100m in 10.97 sec. In her 400m Chloe Johnston was 4th in 59.90 sec. At Senior discus, Kurt Simpson and Laura Potts were both 7th, Kurt with 30.34m and Laura with 23.24m
