Glen Willis took his good cross country form to Jordanstown where he finished 7th in 11:38 min in the 3500m Junior Boys race at the Irish Schools Championships, a spot high enough to give him a place on the Irish team at the Schools International on 28th March in Bangor, Wales. Harry Speers was 54th and Roger Dawson 63rd. In the 6400m Senior Boys race, Mark Patterson was 18th in 22:27 min and Brian Barron 54th in 24:43 min. Both Senior titles came this side of the border with James O’Hare and Ciara Mageean winning boys and girls titles respectively. On the same course the Schools Championships were followed by the Irish Universities Championships. Representing Queens Nicola Simpson was 26th in the 5000m Ladies Championship in 22:06 min.
