The Irish Universities Track & Field Championships took place at Santry on Friday and Saturday with the North Down contingent in good early season form. On Friday Eva Massey (UU) won the final of the shot with a Championship Record of 13.58m. Amy Foster (UU) won her 200m semi final in 24.74 sec, Nicola Simpson (QUB) was 2nd in the 800m semi final in 2:22.57 min and Niall Robinson (QUB) was 3rd in the 1500m semi final in 4:03.37 min. Saturday was finals day. Amy was 2nd in the 200m in 24.54 sec and there were pbs for Nicola and Niall with Nicola 7th in 2:22.48 min at 800m and Niall going sub 4 with 4h in 3:59.97 min. Saturday however really belonged to Jessica Craig (UU) who blitzed her 1500m and 3000m pbs with 4th at 1500m in 4:51.70 min and 3rd at 3000m in 10:43.55 min.
