IUAA Road Relay Championship

Francis Marsh was a member of a strong UU team which finished third at Maynooth in a high quality IUAA Road Relay Championships. Francis is currently doing a Masters Degree, no pun intended, at Jordanstown. The team got off to a great start by Ray Adams who led after the opening leg and he was followed by Diarmuid Grant, Kevin Seaward, Alan Bogle and Francis over 1, 2, 3, 2 and 1 mile. The team disputed 3rd with TCD who had just pulled ahead after the fourth leg But Francis finished comfortably in the bronze position. Another see-saw for the lead resulted in a rare defeat for DCU after James Nolan took UCD into the lead on the fourth lap and this was retained.

North Down also had an interested in the QUB “B” team in which John Saulters started and came 12th, the team eventually finishing 13th. QUB “A” were 7th. In the womens races UU were 5th and QUB 7th and 10th.
