One of North Down AC’s most experienced ultrarunners was in Berlin on Saturday 12th August for the annual 100 mile race following the route of the border around West Berlin through urban areas, countryside and forests. Each year the race medal poignantly commemorates a victim who lost their life in an attempt to leave the former DDR and evade minefields, guard towers and the physical concrete and barbed wire border of the Berlin Wall between 1961 and 1989. Jill completed the race in a superb time of 26:52:02.
