Amongst a multitude of road races over the St Patrick’s Weekend, the first major 10K road race of the year, the Jimmy Murray Memorial race in Downpatrick, y took place on Sunday. Out of the 450 or so finishers, the first North Down runner was Dennis Scott, 13th overall, in a pb of 35:18 min. Julie Balmer led home the club girls in 39:36 minutes. Julie was 38thth overall and 3rd female behind Gladys Ganiel and Julie Turley. In the mens race, won narrowly by Joe McAllister from Greg Roberts, there were Andrew Muir, John McCarvey and David Balmer while in the girls were Sarah Benton, Marie Devine and Kathy Graham
