Larne AC 10 Mile Race – Larne 25/03/23
Many of the North Down AC runners who were racing at the Queen’s 5k on Thursday evening laced up their racing shoes again on Saturday 25th March for the 10 mile race on the coast road. Several of them also added 10 mile PBs to their shiny new 5k PBs!
Dean Varley was the first NDAC runner to finish in 19th place overall with an outstanding new PB of more than 10 minutes to break the hour for the first time over the distance, in 59:56. Steven Donegan showed he also has his eye on that sub-hour 10 mile goal with a PB of 1:00:29 and 23rd place. David Massey was the next club finisher in 1:02:42. Fiona McQuillan finished in 49th place overall in 1:03:27, another PB and 3rd female overall. Eamonn O’Reilly was just 1 second behind in 1:03:28. Clair Quigley was the next NDAC runner to PB in 1:07:13 ahead of Les Wilkinson in 1:08:15. Sarah Gibson added another PB in 1:08:22 followed by Tim Cooke 1:09:04, Brian Geddis 1:09:20, Aaron McAuley 1:10:10 and Steven Boyd 1:13:12. Paula Simpson also claimed the her second PB in 1:20:35 follows by Emma Fox 1:21:27, Nicola Ingram 1:22:01 and Jeremy Tomalin 1:22:39. Neill Dickson ran 1:24:02 closely followed by John Ferguson whose 1:24:32 was a course PB. Emma Hegarty’s 1:26:43 was another PB while Wendy Neely’s 1:28:23 was good enough for a PB on this coastal course. Lynne Kerr ran 1:28:57 while Hannah Dunne’s 1:32:52 saw her join an exclusive band of runners claiming their second PB over 2 distances in less than 48 hours! Claire Charleton 1:34:11, Nico Stevenson 1:40:30 and Sian Maguire 1:41 were the next finishers while North Down’s senior representative on the day, Pat O’Driscoll, completed club involvement in 1:46:33.
