It was not a particularly fine evening for the Universities Colours Match at Mary Peters between Queens and University of Ulster but North Down athletes who competed or guested had a successful night with pbs for Jordan Neil, James Budde and Robin Brown at 3000m, Jeremy Harper discus and Gemma McAnirn at shot and discus. Jeremy won the shot and discus for UU extending his discus pb and club record by 5cms while David Keys threw 39.02m with the 1.75 Kg discus. Stuart Brown and Craig Law also represented UU while for Queens John Saulter"s 300m win and Gemma"s two thirds had a huge bearing on Queens regaining the trophy by 3 points. Running as a guest in the 3000m Jordan beat a huge field in 8:39.1 min, the fastest North Down time in most memories and one only exceeded by Jonatthan Ross in the formative years of the club.
There is good series of pictures on the 3000m race on the Annadale Striders website.
