The second race in the Sperrin Harriers winter league trail series took place on Saturday around the scenic Lough Fea.
The rivalry continued between the two North Down entrants, Brian Geddis and Frankie Rea, with Frankie taking the honours on this occasion finishing in 43rd, 20:09 and Brian close on his heels 44th, 20:18.
The icing on the cake was both runners won their respective age categories – again. Well done guys.
The next race in the series is the An Creagan 5 mile race on 21st January.
Also on Saturday Born 2 Run hosted their 5th event of their Run Forest Run series at the Tollymore trails. Over 700 athletes competed in the 5K and 10K events. Unfortunately Born 2 Run results to do not include club identities.
Meanwhile, on Sunday Donald Smith and Sean Nickell made their 2017 marathon debuts in Armagh City. Completing a 4 lap course, the twin spires of St Patrick’s Cathedral were nearly always in sight, reminding the runners of how far they had to run back to the City. Donald recorded a commendable 4:01:50 on the hilly course. Good preparation for Donald’s next venture, Last man Standing in Castleward next month. Sean completed the 26.2 miles in a very strong 3:31.
