The latest instalment of the ANI cross country league was staged at sixmilewater park in Ballyclare on Saturday.
Once again Jessica Craig displayed her class with a convincing win in the ladies race, leading from start to finish. Jodi Smith made it a 1 – 2 for North Down when finishing 2nd which set the ladies team up for another successful outing.
Sarah Lindsay led the supporting group crossing the line in 30th position followed by Valerie McDonough 60th, Fiona McQuillan 64th and Sarah Benton 68th.
Earlier in the junior races Murphy Miller continued her great form with virtually 30 seconds to spare to win the U15 girls race. Megan Briggs, stepping up an age band, finished in a creditable 4th in the same race while in the boys U15 Adam Skelly returned in 12th.
In the U11 boys race Ollie Smith made the podium with a great 3rd place finish, reaping the benefits of his training. Oliver Playfair was 7th and Gavin Playfair finished 10th. John Ewing was our first runner home in the U17 race finishing 8th with Cameron Jenkins and Jake Rushby following in 11th and 12th.
In the mens race Dennis Scott crossed the line in 13th spot in a high quality field. Mark Weir was steady when finishing 35th and David Massey had another strong run to finish in 62nd. Eamonn O’Reilly was 79th and Frankie Rea and Brian Geddis battled it out to finish in 100th and 102nd.
The next race and last one this calendar year in the ANI league is the North West Cross Country at Gransha, Londonderry on 17th December. There are only two races remaining in the New Year with the Antrim international on 14th January and the Senior at Lurgan on 4th March.
