Matthew Martinis included in a group of 24 young athletes (born 1994, 1995) who have been invited by the Olympic Council of Ireland to attend a Youth Training Camp in Romania from June 17th to 22nd. The OCI will be conducting educational workshops throughout the Camp which offers a great opportunity for those hoping to make the qualifying standards for next year’s European Youth Olympic Festival in Turkey, to travel abroad without the added pressures of a competition. Northern Ireland athletes in the group will also be eligible for the Commonwealth Youth Games taking place in 2011 in the Isle of Man. That competition in 2011 will be U18 track and field athletes and not U19 as in previous Commonwealth Youth GamesThe group will travel out from Dublin on June 17th with 26 others from different sports, for what will undoubtedly be a great experience for all involved.
