17 year old javelin thrower Matthew Martin has been named in the 14 strong Irish Youth Olympic team for the upcoming European championships in Turkey. Athletics Ireland recognises the importance of the European Youth Olympic Trials as a qualifying event for the World Youth Olympics and the qulifying standards reflect this. The European Youth Olympic Festival will be held in Trabzon, Turkey from 24th to 29th July. The Irish Team will have a 5 day pre Games training camp in Turkey prior to the opening ceremony.
