It was another good night for the Junior teams on Wednesday when the third and final qualifying round of the McCain’s Young Athletes’ League took apart. Apart from only having two U13 boys (where its starting to look as if it is all we have), all the sections were firing in what looks a Match victory. None more so than the U15 boys who, with the exception of two or three seconds, won every event, A and B. Take a bow Jack Walker, Mark Widdowson, Roger Dawson, Sam McKibben, Glen Willis, Harry Speers, Nico Espana, Michael Weir, Matthew Stockton, Louis Atkinson and Niall McGrattan.
The U17 boys and the three girls teams were not quite as comprehensive and often had to contend with events alien to them but they all did well too. The Northern Ireland Final of the League will take place in Antrim on Saturday 25th July when a full range of events will test clubs’ resources.
