With Ulster no longer competing in the Celtic Games, the qualification route is now much tougher and is via the Ireland team in this U16 and U18 Junior International. On Saturday, it was held at Santry and the home team came out on top in Dublin, with a combined score of 184 points. Wales finished second on 160 points with Scotland third on 136 points. U18 Irish Champion Michael Gaffney competed in the Javelin and won with a throw of 53.36.
