More runners from the club sampled the ParkRun experience on Saturday with eight taking part, seven for the first time at the Waterworks. Weather was good although paths were on the slippy side due to the earlyish start time after a frosty night. Though it was primarily a training exercise and race preparation, times were good and close to pb”s. Alex Donald and Zoe Illingworth had their first recorded 5K times, at least in their current regeneration. Jessica Craig, the ladies winner, and Glen Willis both beat their pb by one second while Sarah Benton took 18 secs off hers. Terry Eakin went straight into the lead in the Age Graded League.
It was interesting to see that the event was validated in that Francis Marsh, on a London weekend, turned out in the equivalent event on Wimbledon Common and was the runner-up in 17:07 min – the same time as Glen who was 5th in Belfast.
