North Down won six of the Age Group relay titles on offer with Regent House taking the other two. The U16 girls quartet of Hannah Lewis, Harriet Hayhurst, Katie Hewitt and Kim Shaw followed up their recent YAL form as did Jennifer Hatch, Ali Gordon,Tasha Paxton and Kathryn Colwell in the U14 group. U16 boys had bodies to spare with A and B teams first and second but the U14 boys were an athlete short.
Michael Dyer moved down to 400m and was 2nd in 52.0 to Aaron Carlyle from City of Derry, the former Ulster Schools champion, in damp conditions. Kerry Iveston also moved down and won the womens’ 400m in 65.7 as well as 2nd at 800m in 2.31.0.
Michael had been frustrated at the Dublin Games the previous evening finding the first lap of the 800m development race too slow. Not as frustrated as Brendan McConville who, with the Europa cup Decathlon ahead, found his planned hurdles warm up in Dublin cancelled, a repeat of the situation in Sligo before Arles.
