David McKeague and Mark Weir were racing in the Mournes on Saturday 20th April at the Northern Ireland Mountain Running Association Granite Peaks races. Starting and finishing in Tollymore Forest Park and taking in a smaller 25k loop or a larger 50k loop with more than 3100m of ascent, the runners in both races had a hard day out in the Mournes with the unexpectedly warm weather after all their recent training on cold, wet and windy days, adding an extra layer of difficulty to the brutally tough course. David McKeague finished 7th overall and 2nd M45 in the 25k race in 3:00:47 while Mark Weir was the 11th finisher and 1st M50 in the 50k ultramarathon.
