We regret to announce that Noel Kane died today, Thursday 16th, at the age of 72 aftter a long illness. We understand he was in Bushmills on a short break with his wife. The Service of Remembrance will be in St Comgalls, Brunswick Road at 10.00am on Tuesday 20th August. Our deepest sympathy goes out to his family and friends and in particular to his daughters Anita and Liza, former international throwers. Noel was an athlete with the old Bangor AC and a founder member of North Down AC. Noel is single-handedly responsible for North Down AC’s reputation in throwing circles, the many athletes he coached including Anita and Liza, Jacky Crawford, Alison Moffitt and Paddy McGrattan.
